Indian Coffee House, Thiruvananthapuram Central (Thampanoor), is a place filled with nostalgia. The architectural design is truly unique and adds to its charm. The food is okay, nothing exceptional but decent for a quick bite. The service, however, could be better—just okay. The atmosphere is fine, though it can get crowded at times. Indian Coffee House at Thampanoor has always been a place that brings back nostalgia, with its classic South Indian dishes and old-world charm. The food is usually decent, and I’ve always enjoyed their masala dosa, cutlet, and signature filter coffee . But my recent visit left me quite disappointed. I ordered a fruit salad, expecting something fresh and refreshing . Instead, what arrived was shocking—it had ants and even a strand of hair . That’s just unacceptable for any restaurant, let alone one with such a legacy. Cleanliness and basic hygiene should never be compromised, and this was an instant turnoff. Another thing that stood out was the customer service—or rather, the lack of it. Indian Coffee House used to have a warm, welcoming vibe, but now the staff seems uninterested and disconnected . The service was slow , and the overall experience felt dull. I still appreciate the simplicity and the nostalgia this place holds, but if they don’t improve on hygiene and service , it’s going to be hard to keep coming back. A little more care could go a long way in restoring its former charm.
