During our recent family trip to Chennai, we were keen to try authentic South Indian cuisine—and “ID” turned out to be the perfect choice. Nestled in the heart of the city, this restaurant doesn’t just serve food, it offers an experience steeped in warmth, flavour, and efficiency. From the moment we stepped in, we were impressed by the cleanliness, ambience, and most notably, the hospitality. The staff were courteous, quick, and genuinely focused on creating a delightful dining experience. A special mention goes to Mr. Mario, whose attention to detail and personal engagement with each guest truly stood out. He didn’t just take orders—he ensured we felt welcomed and well-guided through the menu. His manner of handling customers is something every service-oriented professional should observe and learn from. The food, cooked fresh and served piping hot, spoke for itself. Each dish had the right balance of spice and flavour, bringing alive the traditional South Indian palate. From crispy dosas to soft idlis and rich sambar, everything was authentic and satisfying. At Mario’s suggestion, we ended our meal with their signature filter coffee—and it was exactly what we needed after a long, tiring day. Smooth, aromatic, and rejuvenating. Overall, “ID” is more than just a restaurant—it’s a reminder of how genuine hospitality combined with good food can turn a simple meal into a cherished memory. We left with full hearts, fuller stomachs, and a firm decision to return on our next visit to Chennai. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

After watching a Movie at the iconic Satyam cinemas, I and my family decided to dine at ID restaurant. Though we thought of few other places to dine, I insisted in visiting ID as 7 years ago I had a delicious Mysore masala dosa at this very place and I had very fond memories with my friends at this restaurant. I wanted to revisit the restaurant and I finally got to dine. But sorry to say.. it was a big nightmare. 1. We went in at 10:10PM and ordered one plate poori, one ghee Pongal, one rava dosa and one Nellore erra kaaram dosa. The first food on our table (ghee Pongal) was placed at 10:45Pm! 2. Glasses with water were served at 10:30 after I yelled at the waiter. I suppose neither the waiter nor the management knows that serving water first to the customer is basic courtesy. 3. Sambar and chutney was served to us at 10:20PM itself. That is 20 mins before serving food. The quantity of chutney served for the dishes that we ordered was a joke! 4. When we asked for chutney refill the waiter said that coconut chutney was over and they were grinding it. He requested for two minutes but the chutney never came thereafter. My mother jokingly asked while paying the bill if the grinding process was still going on. 5. Neither the waiters nor the service persons look to the needs of the customer. When we asked for a spoon to eat ghee Pongal the response was that all the spoons went for washing! 6. The food was average. I still feel Sangeetha serves the best south indian in Chennai closely followed by sree akshayam. Overall, I'd never visit this place again. Thanks
