Unpretentious and homely Portuguese-Goan food prepared fresh upon order using fresh ingredients by a single man, the owner, Mr. Vasco Silveira. If you are not new to Goan cusine, you may experience different flavours from the food here but each and every dish is fantastic in its own way. Don't expect quick service and don't rush your meal. Only pay a visit if you have time on your hands and wish to spend a relaxed afternoon or evening chatting with Mrs. Silveira while your food is being prepared from scratch. If you are in a large group, it is highly recommended that you contact them beforehand to let them know you are visiting and place your order a day in advance so all the ingredients are on hand, the dishes are prepared and ready to be served upon your arrival.I am habituated to documenting all my meals while dining out but I unfortunately don't have pictures of the food at Horseshoe. That's a testament to the great food served here. With food so good, there's no time to pause and take pictures. There have never been any leftovers from our meals at the restaurant and our plates and dishes have always gone back to the kitchen fully cleaned of food.I am selfishly happy that this gem of Panjim is off the typical tourist's radar and I always get to enjoy the warm hospitality of the Silveiras.They also have a lovely collection of recipes in their Luso Goan Culinary Cook book available for sale which also features some of their dishes.If you take food seriously and are looking for an off the tourist circuit dining experience with warm, homely hospitality to go along, I'd highly recommend Horseshoe. Please stay away if you are expecting a typical commerical restaurant experience with familiar dishes and flavours, want lightning fast service and are going to complain about prices.To avoid disappointment, it's always a good idea to call ahead and check if they're open as Google may not list the correct business hours.
