Gundappa Donne Biryani Cafe on St. Marks Road, Bangalore, has been a mixed experience for me over two visits. While the outdoor deck seating is a pleasant feature, the overall experience was disappointing, particularly considering the high prices. Ambiance: 2/5 The cafe's ambiance leaves much to be desired. Despite the charm of the outdoor seating, the indoor area feels neglected and uninviting. For the price point, I expected a more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing environment. Food Quality: 1.5/5 First Visit: Chicken Biryani The chicken biryani was dry and had an off-putting taste, suggesting it was not freshly prepared. The dish included half a boiled egg instead of the traditional whole egg, which felt like cutting corners. Second Visit: Mutton Biryani The mutton was chewy and overcooked, lacking the tenderness one expects from good biryani. Like the chicken biryani, it came with only half a boiled egg and was missing the usual accompaniments. Service: 1/5 The service was one of the most disappointing aspects. The staff seemed preoccupied with takeout orders, neglecting dine-in customers. I had to wait at the counter to place my order and pay before being allowed to sit, which was inconvenient and frustrating. The staff's attitude was indifferent at best, which detracted significantly from the dining experience. Value for Money: 1.5/5 Given the poor quality of food, subpar service, and lackluster ambiance, Gundappa Donne Biryani Cafe does not offer good value for money. The high prices are unjustified considering the overall experience. Conclusion While the outdoor deck seating is a positive aspect, it does not compensate for the poor food quality, unfriendly service, and unappealing indoor ambiance. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Gundappa Donne Biryani Cafe on St. Marks Road for a satisfying biryani experience. There are many other places in Bangalore that offer better food and service at more reasonable prices.
