Beef Thali - Rs.140/- Golden Wok Restaurant, Mawroh, Shillong Chinese & Indian $$ 16.11.24 After having the bowl of noodles from Nongmali, I made my way up to Mawroh to check the 2nd place of the day, Golden Wok Restaurant. Now I have seen this place a few months back & what got me interested was that they had a 'Thali available' signboard at the entrance. Now having Indian in a Chinese restaurant? Hell count me in any day. I initially thought this was an outlet of the restaurant in PB but the staff informed that this was under different management. So I entered this basement located restaurant & it was definitely bigger than what I thought. It had 2 sections. Even though I was kind of full from the Noodles but hey I came here for their Thali. I took a seat & had a look at the Menu, it had both Chinese & Indian. They even had Naga Thalis. But an Indian style thali would be more fascinating. So I asked for a Beef Thali. Prices were reasonable. The food came. So was this another Spicy Dragon? The thali looked rather simple somewhat justifying the price. It had rice, dal, a pc of beef curry, soya chunks, chutney, cucumber & papad. The rice was of good quality. The dal fine. The beef curry was soupy with some Indian spices like star anise. It had ok flavors but just a single pc of meat looked a little sad. I would have preferred the meat to be softer but I'm sure many would have been fine with it. The soya chunks were palatable. Could have been warmed up. Glad I had my fill of veggies earlier from the soup noodles. The thali was just too simple for me. Service was good. I was the only customer. Next time will stick to their Chinese. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ₹1–200 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
