I’ve been to this place thrice so far and I’ve never been impressed by the coffee. Baristas keep changing and the coffee isn’t as good as their main outlet in laitumkhrah. Asked for a Mocha but got something closer to a cappuccino (with perhaps a teaspoon of chocolate). To be fair, Shillong doesn’t know how to serve a mocha unless you go to Cafe Shillong. When I tried the Matcha Latte, it was patchy and not well made. I keep going thinking this time it’ll be good but I’m always disappointed. Will I go again? Perhaps, with low expectations. Triple Layer Chocolate Mousse - Rs.90/- Baking Leaven, Mawroh, Shillong Patisserie $$ 16.11.24 Now for my final spot of the day, I'm here at Baking Leaven in Mawroh. This is a recently opened outlet, the 1st being the one in Laitumkhrah which is always filled with young folks. I walked inside this little but pleasant looking store. The white walls made it even more soothing & attractive to the eyes. The entrance itself was alluring. It had a table inside & another outdoors. I walked in and golly jee there was a nice selection of goodies to choose from. But what was most eye catching to me were the pieces of Triple Layer Chocolate Mousse displayed on the cabinet. I asked for one & the girl in the shop quickly took it out & handed it to me. I took it outside placed it on the table & boy I still had just about enough of space to put this one in. I took out a fork & tore apart a small piece. It felt different. I put it inside my mouth & it was somewhat strange. The texture was unfamiliar. I couldn't even taste it properly since the texture just threw me off completely. Sadly this was not what I had expected when I saw it inside the cabinet. Perhaps it just wasn't for me. I know & I'm sure that their other items are very tasty but this just did not tick my box. I was also too full to try something else. Perhaps next time I will try the other different items as well.
