Stepping into Thai Basil feels like being transported to a charming corner of Thailand. The restaurant strikes a beautiful balance between elegance and warmth, with its tasteful décor, soft lighting, and inviting spaces that instantly put you at ease. What truly elevates the experience is the gentle melody of Thai folk music playing in the background, adding a layer of authenticity that perfectly complements the setting. We tried the Thoong Thong (Chicken & Prawns), Veg Thoong Thong, Pad Thai Prawns, Pad Ka Praw Gai, and Khaw Neaw Ma Muang. While every dish brought something unique to the table, the absolute stars of the meal were the Khaw Neaw Ma Muang (Mango Sticky Rice) and the Thoong Thong with Chicken & Prawns. The service was generally pleasant, although a few staff members seemed slightly unsure at times. Overall, Thai Basil offers more than just a meal—it delivers an experience. This is a very stylish restaurant, spread over quite a substantial area: indoor spaces across two floors, an extensive outdoor space as well. The decor is chic, with elegant bamboo lampshades, wood panelling, and hanging lights. The menu, is of course all Thai (barring a bakery section which does have some Thai style cakes and desserts but also favourites like banoffee pie). The choice is huge, with everything from salads and soups to starters, stir fries, curries, noodles, rice, and even a range of Thai-inspired beverages, including boba teas. Between the three of us, we shared a green papaya salad (vegetarian), a garlic butter pepper prawns, a seafood (prawn and squid) red curry with jasmine rice, and a cha Thai cake (a tea cake). The salad and prawns were excellent, the red curry was good, and the cake—not very highly flavoured with tea, but subtle—was good. Overall, a really good meal in a very pleasant setting. I googled 'best thai restaurant in bangalore' and Thai Basil came up. Went for lunch alone and was seated in a corner. Ambience is good. Ordered Papaya veg salad and garlic pepper prawns which was on point. The mango sticky rice was okay. What stuck out like a sore thumb was the service. The place was not crowded at all and there were plenty of servers wandering around with no focus on the customers. I had to get up and ask for water. I had to call them to take my order. After I was finished I had to call them to order desert. Then again call them for the bill. Pathetic!!. When the customer leaves there is no thank you or bye. Well well...they included the service charge etc in the bill so why would the servers bother...right? There is competition at a crazy level in the restaurant business in bangalore. So restaurants have to be be up to the mark or else it leaves a bad taste in the mouth and we dont return. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ₹2,000+ Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4
