I came to know about this place from the infamous Kunal Vijaykar’s show, “Khaane Mein Kya Hai” on Youtube.Much to my dissatisfaction this place turned out to be a roller coaster of likes and dislikes. The moment I stepped in the narrow old house like door, the restaurant smelt very “FISHY”. I have been to many small local restaurants that do not smell fishy at all. There is one person who cleans the tables, helps out in the kitchen and also manages billing, something I have only noticed in family run places. This did lead to many mishaps which I will talk about later. The prices are neither too high nor very cheap but I do not mind as both prawns and pomfret were extremely fresh. I mean, that’s what we want from a sea food restaurant, isn’t it?The food again was a hit and miss.We ordered Signature Prawns Thali(that includes a choice of Pomfret/Surmai curry, solkadi, chapati/rice bhakri, sukha, rice, prawns masala) with an extra rice bhakri.1) Wheat chapati and rice bhakri were average in terms of softness.2) Prawns masala tasted more like a mughlai restaurant “bhuna”, only less oily and less salty.3) Pomfret curry was good but needed bit of coconut flavour to balance out the “khatta” from kokum flavour as it was tad bit too tangy.4) Prawns fry was the highlight here.5)None of the food was too oily or salty or too spicy which is great for people having milder palates.6)Cauliflower ka acchar and coconut chutney were refreshing addition and I actually ended up using coconut chutney while eating rice and pomfret curry(to balance kokum flavour).7) Another specialty about Maharastrian cuisine restaurants is Indrayani rice, but, to my disappointment they do not serve that. Now to the MOST DISAPPOINTING PART, the place had lots of houseflies, AND, the floor was a mess.I do not understand how a restaurant in a good locality and situated in a mall like setting has so many flies. And, there were only 2 tables occupied at the same time then how come the staff is so disinterested in keeping the floors clean?Although there is a lot of history and good reviews on this place, I shared my honest and unfiltered experience. If you want to try fresh sea food and do not mind the ambiance of a restaurant in and around Shivaji Park, then do try out this place.
