Garlic String Beans - Rs.70/- Chicken Thukpa - Rs.100/- Traders Cafe fka Fuiyoh Cafe, Umiam MeECL Bazaar, Ri Bhoi Chinese $ 03.01.25 Today I felt like driving somewhere warm, so I took the car towards Bhoi. After passing Mawiong I remembered one of my fellow follower @fred_bm092 recommend me to try out Fuiyoh Cafe at Umiam Bazaar. It was during Cherry Blossom Festival but since I didn't make it to the event, I had forgotten about this place, well until today. I reached the place as shown by Google Maps but there was no signboard. I entered a small little shop & well I hit bullseye. Except that the owner Mr.Raksang had changed the name to Traders Cafe. Mr. Raksang also cooks all the food. I had a look at the menu on the wall & it was basically Chinese dishes. One item stood out, Garlic String Beans. I just had to order it. Then understanding that it might just be a snack & it was lunch time, I ordered a bowl of Chicken Thukpa as well, hoping that the hot soupy dish will get my body warmed up to help me fight my cold. This place looked popular with the locals. I was expecting the beans to come, but the big bowl of Thukpa arrived first. I was planning to eat more today but I guess this bowl changed my plans. It looked like a soup chow but for the spicy momo chutney on top. It had lots of veggies, green chillies & a decent amount of chicken considering the price. It was indeed tasty & did its job of opening up my sinuses & helping me break into sweats. Totally recommended. However the beans though simple, stole the show. They were fried with garlic bulbs & dried red chillies & garnished with red onions. The beans still had a nice crunch to them. I finished everything up. However I still wished they came before the Thukpa so that I could enjoy a better crunch. Anyway great spot to find for anyone looking for good Chinese food at affordable rates.
