Yesterday I was at this revered spot for lunch with my friend at 2.30pm. The place was not even half full. I have a reason for saying this. As I understand that there could be issues with the service, and food when a restaurant is full. I am an international travel and food writer based in Mumbai with a following worldwide. But not as much as the owner Movie star Dilip. Firstly, the music was too loud, perhaps to give a Dilip movie kind of feel, but it was getting on my nerves. We come for a peaceful meal, music shouldn't be overbearing, that too at our expense. Second, I had an accident and surgery on my leg recently and was advised high seating. There were low chairs with no provision for cushions. And no one cares enough to come up with a solution for someone with a disability. The previous night I had my dinner at Meen in Forum Mall. They even had a wheelchair! And cared to provide me with cushions as well. And the food was par excellence. Not a hurried up missmash offered at Dhe Puttu. My friend ordered for a kappa biryani and I decided to go for veg puttu meals. My fare was mediocre with items tasting just about ok. Mind you, I am a mallu originally and have the best of Kerala foods back at . Home in Mumbai and the nice restaurants there and in Kochi where I come every month on business. I tasted the kappa biryani and it wasn't that great either. Not expected from such a place of repute and hype. As for the service, no one seemed to have their eyes on the tables but all looked busy. Yes they did concentrate on a group with ten or so people, but the two of us sitting on the next table were totally ignored by the managers. A better understanding of the business is needed. They just lost a good customer for life. And many more because of this review. Finally my friend asked for a mango milkshake. What we got was some artificial mango flavored goey stuff. Not the real thing. It is not difficult to give real mango even if they are not in season. Or else don't offer it when not it season. It was a rip-off at 200 plus taxes. Finally I had to plead and shout for the bill as we both had to rush for other commitments. There was no one to colllect the payment. One manager was busy talking and laughing on the phone. I had to go to the billing counter and paid for what was a perfect letdown. Don't take success and your customers for granted. Both can disappear and never return. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2

Mediocre at best and definitely overpriced for the quality of food and the lackluster customer service. The only redeeming factor was the tea.
