A Disappointing Experience at Dadu’s, Banjara Hills Road No. 12 We at Hyderabad Stories are always mindful of the impact our words can have, especially when reviewing beloved or legacy establishments. However, some experiences are hard to overlook — and our recent visit to Dadu’s on Road No. 12, Banjara Hills was one such case. The moment we stepped in, we were hit by a strong, unpleasant odor at the entrance. This was quite jarring, especially when you’re entering a space associated with food. We immediately brought this to the manager’s attention, hoping for a more empathetic response — but unfortunately, that didn’t happen. We ordered: • 10 Samosas • 2 Chaats • 2 Pav Bhajis • 1 Bhel Puri While we believe the ingredients may have been of decent quality, the overall taste was underwhelming. This could be subjective, but none of the dishes stood out. However, the most frustrating part came during billing. We were told we had to pay two separate bills — one for Dadu’s and another for Masala Republic, which apparently operates under the same roof but with a different billing system. This unnecessary complexity left us confused and annoyed. When we raised the concern, the staff simply said, “This is our process,” in a tone that was far from courteous. To make matters worse, Dadu’s POS accepted American Express, but Masala Republic’s did not. When we requested the manager to swipe the full amount through the Dadu’s POS (since they’re the same establishment operationally), the request was flatly denied without any attempt to find a solution. This left us in a bind with a ₹1300 bill and no payment option that worked smoothly. Frankly, Maharaja Chaat offers a much better experience — both in flavor and service. We had high hopes for Dadu’s, especially after seeing Muskaan Dadu at an NRAI event where she left a positive impression. When we asked the staff about her involvement, we were told she visits once every four months. We genuinely feel that more frequent leadership involvement could help streamline operations, improve service standards, and bring back the charm Dadu’s was once known for. We hope this feedback is taken in the right spirit. If corrective actions are taken and the customer experience improves, we would be more than happy to revisit and revise our review.
