A Grateful and Joyful Walk to Dad’s Biryani It began with a simple Google Maps search for “Biryani Near Me,” and what unfolded was a delightful little journey that ended at Dad’s Biryani—just a 350-yard stroll from my doorstep. The shop operates as takeaway only, and the glowing reviews I’d read online—full of praise for both the food and the warmth of service—were what finally nudged me to lace up and go see for myself. The walk itself was pleasant, almost meditative. Following the clear, well-designed signs, I found Dad’s Biryani standing out with an impression that was immediate and lasting. The storefront is thoughtfully decorated, remarkably clean, and inviting in a way that’s rare among similar eateries. The glass food display cases—something you don’t often see—lent an air of transparency and care, and the overall presentation of the shop spoke volumes about the pride taken in the place. At the front, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Chandrukumar. With genuine courtesy, he walked me through the offerings, introduced the paper menu, and explained the various dishes with patience and enthusiasm. Many of the names were new to me, and the pictures alongside them were a welcome guide for the unfamiliar. That day, due to LPG constraints, only the Chicken Biryani with Basmati rice was available, served with curd and onion raita. Every other biryani on the menu was set to return on Sunday, which I’m already looking forward to. I’d brought my own plastic bowl and lid—my small way of reducing single-use waste—and Mr. Chandrukumar kindly accommodated it without hesitation. While there, I also had the honor of meeting the owner, Mr. Nambirajan, a retired Group A officer from the Central Government. He graciously typed his name into my phone and shared a few details, and I was struck by how both he and Mr. Chandrukumar took such sincere interest in conversation. Their manner was jolly, courteous, and deeply professional—hosts in the truest sense. Mr. Chandrukumar packed my chicken biryani, which came with a generous drumstick and thigh piece, and even secured the lid with cellotape to ensure nothing spilled on my walk home. For Rs 150 via UPI—about USD 1.66, TT$ 11.67, or PHP 92—I carried home not just a meal, but the warmth of a new acquaintance. Back home, I paused to photograph the food before digging in. The biryani looked wonderful, and the taste more than matched the appearance. It was beautifully spiced—though my palate would gladly welcome even more heat. I noticed the biryani rice carried a touch more spice than the chicken, which made me wonder if they were cooked separately and then married together. Regardless, the chicken was cooked to perfection; tender, flavorful, and it fell away from the bone with no effort at all. All told, the entire experience was a joy. Five stars, without hesitation, for the Chicken Biryani in Basmati Rice. Every element—from the aroma to the texture to the hospitality—felt crafted with care. To Mr. Chandrukumar and Mr. Nambirajan: thank you for the lively conversation, the genuine kindness, and the delicious food. You’ve earned a returning customer. I’m already counting the days to Sunday, when I hope to savor your mutton biryani and finally taste the much-talked-about Chicken 65 I’ve only seen in videos until now. I’ll be back with more updates as I work my way through your menu. Until then, my deepest thanks for a meal and a memory that were both truly wonderful. Namaste Edit: On my first visit Mr. Nambirajan told me come on Sunday the whol menu will be made and I will have more choices. I returned on Sunday April 12, 2026 only to find only three items were made: Mutton Biryani, Chicken Biryani and Chicken meat balls. Since I already had chicken biryani I chose the earlier and latter ie. Mutton Biryani and Chicken Meat Balls. 4 Stars! By far the best seeraga samba biriyani i have ever had. Tastes perfect, basmathi rice biriyani was also goood but as compared to both..i would prefer seeraga samba it was top notchh and must try their sides as well, all were good and value for money loved it and good hospitality.
