The dosa was excellent—perfectly crisp and well-textured. The sambar was disappointing, lacking any real flavor or authentic spice. The chilli potato felt unprofessional and amateur, with a soggy texture and poor seasoning. Go for the dosa, but skip the sides and the Indo-Chinese menu. In Lucknow having heard from generations that one of the earliest places to serve south Indian food has been the modest Madras Restaurant in the lane near Sahu theatre Hazratganj. Somehow by the time we grew up there were other bigger places and I never visited it. Finally visited the age old place which is run by next generation of owners.The place still is very simple and basic without any frills but has loyal customers. We ordered vada which were ok. However,the Masala Dosa was very good and filling.The Sambhar also had the correct texture. The meal was washed by old time revived Campa Orange. The meal was more like walking into food history of Lucknow- basic yet enjoyable!! Meal type: Lunch Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
