We went to check out this restaurant inside the Taj hotel and was extremely disappointed with the quality of food. Calicut being the food capital of Kerala I did not expect the food to be this terrible. I can get a much flavorful food even in any random restaurant in Calicut probably for one third of the price. Please read the review while keeping in mind you will be paying ₹500 and above for what is described below. Ordered the manchow soup, cream of corn soup, hot and sour soup, Kakkathil with spring chicken, Tandoori Pizza, paneer kathi roll, and a sandwich. Except the sandwich everything tasted below average. I had much better tasting soups from even street side vendors in Mumbai. And Chennai. "Kakkathil" is chicken slightly sauted in the totato curry (the basic tomato curry that we have with chapathi) chicken and the curry didn't blend together. In the Paneer kathi roll onion were not cooked and the taste again was below par. Tandoori chicken pizza again was below average and I have no idea how a restaurant inside Taj has such substandard food. Overall: I can make much better tasting food than what I had there for almost ₹5500 The ambience is that of a decent restaurant. Not up to date or trendy. May be the ambience was once amazing definitely not now. Felt like a glorified breakfast place of a Motel in USA. Will never be coming back. And Definitely do not recommend. If you just want to say you went to "Taj hotel" for your meal then please go ahead, definitely not for food or the ambience. There are many restaurants in the beach that will give you mouth watering food and probably better ambience. Felt there was no effort put into making sure the food has Taj standard. I expected alot since it's a restaurant inside Taj Hotel and was completely disappointed. Posting the picture of the menu just to have a reference of how much you will be paying for sub standard food. I went to Al bake, paragon, Sagar etc a day ago and the food was far far better there compared to this restaurant. And going through other reviews, I wish I checked those before I went in. Also you can see there is no response from the Taj Hotels for any negative review clearly indicating how little they care about customer satisfaction.
