Visited Cafe Ikigai with a friend for lunch on a Sunday. The overall experience was pleasant, largely thanks to the 25% discount on our meal. Without it, this youthful café—judging by the crowd it attracts—would be harder to recommend given its pricing.Cafe Ikigai is located in Whitefields, Kondapur. It’s not very easy to spot, but Google Maps will get you there. It’s slightly tucked away from the main road, which offers some peace but also means it’s unlikely to attract walk-in customers.The building has ample basement parking for both bikes and cars. The ambience is clean, minimalist, and spacious, with an exposed ceiling and blacked-out design. Seating is café-appropriate, and tables can be joined for larger groups.Books and board games are available to keep guests engaged, though they can get loud—especially friend groups on weekends. This can make the café feel full even when only a few people are actually ordering. On weekdays, you’ll likely find more available seating.Service was average. The wait staff were somewhat attentive but didn’t seem familiar with the menu and missed chances to guide our choices. Interactions felt awkward, which was disappointing given the premium pricing—many items cost ₹400 and above.Seating is comfortable, but the bench sofas and chairs could use a deep clean. The washroom is shared with the building and was just okay—not ideal for a café aiming to be premium.The digital menu worked well, and they offer free Wi-Fi. The menu is broad, covering more than typical café fare, including Asian dishes, Thai curry, and dimsums. Starters arrived at a reasonable pace, but mains took about 15 minutes—suggesting this café is best suited for leisurely visits.Food presentation was excellent, and the cutlery added a nice touch. Portion sizes were decent—not generous, but enough to avoid feeling hungry. Voracious eaters might find it lacking.Taste-wise, everything was good. The Kataifi Paneer was a standout and highly recommended. The Chicken Parmesan was just okay—the chicken was slightly rubbery and overcooked, possibly due to insufficient marination. The pasta was too thin, resembling Maggi noodles, though the Arrabiata sauce was excellent.The bill felt expensive for the quantity of food, but the 25% Zomato discount helped make it more reasonable. The café is conversation-friendly with no background music, though noisy board game groups can disrupt the vibe—depends on your luck.Worth trying once, especially if you're looking for a relaxed, slow-paced meal in a stylish setting.
