Recently, a bunch of friends decided to meet here for lunch, with a secret agenda to see if they live up to our very high expectations. Settling down, I ordered a Green Apple Italian Soda and a bruschetta al pomodoro and a vegetarian caesar salad. While we waited, a complimentary basket of warm bread with herb butter was served to keep our appetite intact.
The green apple Italian soda was a great version that I have had in a long time, the mild sweetness without any overpowering tanginess from the syrup, was a balance well achieved.
The Bruschetta was a great version, especially the bread. It was fantastic, with juicy tomato squares mildly shaken in olive oil, I would have preferred a tiny bit more of seasoning and a hint of fresh basil.
The caesar salad was a stunner, fresh crunchy lettuce with crispy croutons in a generous dressing that was simply delicious.
Impressed, we decided to order two more antipasti to share, and our pick was the Fungi Aglio Olio and the Verdure fritta. The mushroom was fantastically sauteed and that mild topping of crispy breadcrumb on top was genius.
The Verdure fritta was a bunch of fresh vegetables that were deep fried in a batter keeping the crunchiness and signature of the vegetable, and keeping it crispy and real.
For primi piatti or simply mains, we decided to order four and share, a Taglioni, a ravioli, a gnocchi, and a pizza. All their pastas are freshly made inhouse and there is no usage of dry store bought pasta whatsoever.
My choice was a Taglioni Primavera, a thin spaghetti like pasta with parmesan cheese tossed in a tomato sauce. It was mildly dry yet had a perfect cook on the pasta and a delicious tangy sauce.
Gnocchi Di Pattate was very traditionally handmade, with potato and spinach and it was swimming in a creamy pink sauce. The texture was beautiful, perfectly cooked, and the flavour on the sauce was simply perfect. Now I know what a good gnocchi would taste like.
The Ravioli Di Spinaci E Ricotta was another freshly made, stuffed with spinach ricotta, tossed in a butter, sage and parmesan cheese sauce. I was expecting a clear sauce, but it was a cloudy sauce with a beautiful glaze on that perfectly cooked pasta, it was absolutely divine. Out of the four mains, this probably was my most favourite and also for the rest of the group.
Pizza Di Verdure was a 12inch veggie overloaded pizza with sundried tomatoes, it was a good version, but did not blow our minds off, like what the Ravioli did.
For dolce or desserts, we decided to order three and share, a Traditional Tiramisu, Mousse al Chocolato e Nocciole and a Ricotta Cheesecake.
The traditional tiramisu came with a not-so-traditional presentation with a few caramel popcorn too. First, it was the best version I have tasted ever, slightly even better than the version wifey makes at home, and that caramel popcorn was a genius idea.
The Chocolate Mousse was a decadent version that was super impressive with a strong signature of chocolate complimenting the crunchy hazelnut layer.
The Ricotta cheesecake was decent, good texture and flavour, but did not stand a chance to even compete with the other two, it was made to be highly forgetful by the mousse and the misu.
Overall a great meal experience, authentic Italian handmade fresh pastas that comes highly Visit recommended, and so does the dolce. If you love Italian food, it is a must #apjprecommends
