Being in Kolkata, I had never been to Chinatown — funny enough, I’ve been to the Chinatowns in New York, London, and a few other big cities, but never here! We planned to go out for dinner but hadn’t decided where to go. After shortlisting three restaurants, we finally chose Big Boss. The place has that old-school restaurant feel — simple décor, nothing fancy or particularly “Chinese” about it. But don’t go by looks — it’s quite famous among locals, and the number of reviews speaks for itself. Here’s what we ordered: • Drums of Heaven (with sauce): Super spicy, but I loved it! Not for everyone though — 4.5/5 • House Special Soup: Just okay (3/5). I actually mixed some of the DOH masala into it to make it eatable. • Mixed Schezwan Fried Rice: Excellent! Unlike many places in Kolkata where fried rice tastes too plain, this one had great flavor — cooked with Schezwan sauce, prawns, and shredded chicken. Could easily have it on its own. • Hakka Noodles: Tasty but a bit too oily. • Prawn Pakoda: 4/5 • Lime Soda: Surprisingly amazing! No idea what masala they mixed in it, but it was better than what I usually get around my area. Overall, I was really impressed with the food — definitely planning to come back again! We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Bigg Boss Restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, the place was very clean, and the staff were polite and helpful.
