Hidden away in one of the busiest roads of Pune, Badshahi Boarding House is not just a place to eat – it’s an experience soaked in simplicity, nostalgia. What sets Badshahi apart is its specialty – simple Maharashtrian vegetarian food served with such authenticity in a Puneri wada bungalow. There are no gimmicks here – no unnecessary masalas, no overwhelming oil – just a clean, wholesome Satvik thali that warms your soul. The taste and quality of the food are incredibly high – every bite is flavorful, fresh, and rooted in tradition. From the comforting varan-bhaat to the perfectly spiced sabzis and chutneys, it’s hard to find a fault. The chapatis are soft and hot. The ambience is another highlight – it has a charming, old-school Puneri vibe with vintage furniture, traditional decor, and a calm, laid-back atmosphere that makes you forget the chaos outside. It feels like stepping into the past, where meals were slow, conversations rich, and food was meant to be savored. Service is good – warm, efficient, and respectful. You won’t find flashy uniforms or scripted greetings here, just genuine hospitality. One heads-up: be prepared to wait at least 20-25 minutes to be served. But let me tell you – the wait is worth every second. What arrives on your plate is nothing short of heavenly. In the meantime you can read couple of typical Puneri Paatya.. This is my one of the favorite place for simple Maharashtrian food, and I recommend it to anyone seeking real, soulful cooking. Badshahi Boarding House isn’t just a restaurant – it’s a celebration of tradition, purity, and taste. Service is ok. i ordered for 2 dishes 1) batata wada chatni & 2) sabudana khichadi. Batatawada was ok. But khichadi was very very sweet exactly like SHEERA. I left the whole dish uneated. It was that sweet. While paying bill i told the owner lady on counter that khichadi is made very very sweet. On that the lady says " sometimes the cook makes khichadhi very tikha, & sometimes very sweet. This was here cold reaction.i was really surprised on her reaction. And she charged me for the khichadi that i did not eat. Money is not an issue, but client relation is important in terms of the services. But the lady charged me for the dish even after i had not eaten the dish. So very upsetting. This is not the way of making money. Its hard earned money. Be it any amount. Khichadi is Rs. 55/- which was unecesarily charged for me. We were their often customers. But now will re-think on their attitude. Rated as 0.
