Do enter this place if you are passing by coz this place has the most stunning view of panaji city. The casinos are not something we are proud of but the glitter is very pleasing to the eye. The food here is pretty average, I don't understand why... but I really wish they get some awesome chef on board. This place will definitely be a crowd puller.
Out of the 3.5 I've rated Atona, 2 are solely for the stunning view! The mandovi river with all ita floating casino lends itself as a backdrop to the outdoor seating and is visible through tall doors even when you're sitting inside. The indoor decor is very goan with vintage photos of the state all around. About the food - fish main course is great, as are the rice dishes. Ordered a beef gravy-like dish which was a bit too spicy, but the veg starters are very good (especially a kind of crispy fried vegetables). Overall the food is tasty.
The address given here is not right. Betalbatim is in Salcette and Alto Porvorim is in Bardez. Two different places in two different talukas. It is in Betim, going towards Verem from Panjim. It is on the left side when you head towards Verem. The signboard is not very noticeable, you have to keep a watchful eye for it.
Went there once, very disappointing. The food was not even mediocre. Most of the items on the menu were not available. The prices are good but the food and service was so bad that the prices did not matter. However, the ambiance was worth every rupee. Overlooking the Mandovi river towards the east, Panjim city, all lit up at night, makes a very pretty postcard picture. The view is breathtaking, The sound of waves is like music to the ears. Go there for drinks and the ambiance. The food fails miserably unless they changed the cooks and waiters. The waiters were horrendous at communicating. Couldn't understand Hindi, Konkani or English. The ambiance makes up for the negative points.
