1 out of 5 stars Zafrani Restaurant, Zirakpur – A Masterclass in Disappointment If names could deceive, Zafrani would be the textbook example. The word “Zafrani” evokes saffron-scented elegance, culinary heritage, and the finesse of Awadhi and Mughlai traditions. What you get instead is a loud, chaotic, and utterly forgettable dining experience that borders on culinary betrayal. Food: The chicken korma was a travesty, thin, oily gravy with no depth, no aroma, and certainly no trace of the rich, slow-cooked legacy it claims to represent. It tasted like someone dumped spices into water and hoped for magic. The shami kebabs were dry, bland, and lifeless, more like frozen cutlets than anything handcrafted. If the chef has ever tasted authentic Awadhi or Mughlai cuisine, it certainly didn’t show. There was no nuance, no layering of flavor, no respect for tradition. Culinary Identity Crisis: This place doesn’t just miss the mark, it doesn’t even know where the mark is. The menu reads like a promise of heritage, but the execution is closer to a roadside dhaba on a bad day. It’s not fusion. It’s confusion. Ambience: Imagine trying to enjoy a meal while children scream and sprint around your table like it’s recess in a public park. The staff made no effort to manage the noise or create a dining atmosphere. It was loud, unruly, and deeply unpleasant. Ethics & Attitude: The final blow? They refused to let us box up leftover food to give to someone in need. Not for hygiene reasons, not for policy, just plain arrogance. In a world where kindness should be effortless, this felt like a deliberate act of indifference. The staff’s attitude was dismissive, bordering on hostile. Verdict: Zafrani is a name that deserves reverence. This restaurant, however, deserves a rebrand. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, not for a casual meal, not for a celebration, not even for takeaway. It’s a place that promises royalty and delivers rudeness. Avoid. Preserve your palate, your peace, and your principles. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ₹2,000+ Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Vegetarian offerings: Not sure
