Yummy Bengal in Thane is a dining spot that specializes in Bengali cuisine, despite being classified under fast food offerings. The restaurant is situated on Tikuji Ni Wadi Road and offers a budget-friendly option for those eager to explore the flavors of Bengal. While the exact operating hours are not listed, this affordable eatery still draws attention from those curious about its menu.
The quaint ambiance and quality service were highlighted in past reviews, which date back several years. Unfortunately, there hasn't been an influx of recent feedback, making it difficult to get a current gauge on its operations or updates from the management. Visitors looking for a taste of Bengali flavors might still find it worth checking out, given that past diners seemed satisfied with their experience. More updated information or insights from potential recent patrons would be beneficial.
This is my piece of Bengal right on Ghodbunder Road! The delicious ranges of Biriyani's, Chops, Cutlets and Kobiraji's cooked the authentic Bong manner - unhealthy and delicious all the way! However, there are quite a few things due to which this restaurant gets a low rating.
1. The prices are sky high. What I could get in Kolkata at price 'x', the same item is sold here anywhere between 20 times 'x' to up to 50 times 'x'! Only exceptions are the biriyanis which are reasonably priced, at Rs. 140 for Chicken and Rs. 160 for Mutton Biriyani. However, Vegetable Chop sells at Rs. 50 for two (Rs. 25 apiece), whereas the street price in Kolkata would be around Rs. 3 per piece and in Thakur Village would be around Rs. 10! Extortion!
2. There is an dine-in section but the facility sucks big time. The location of this joint, with filth shit and piss all around, does not help either.
3. The main business of any Bong joint is home delivery. However, this eatery has big nakhra's on home delivery. Minimum order required of Rs. 300 for delivery, and delivery man charges both sides autorickshaw fare. This is ridiculous. For ordering food worth Rs. 300, I have to shell out Rs. 100 extra as delivery charges! Extortion.
Being a Bong, I would have loved to order from here every other day, but due to the above reasons, I hardly do this at all. My advice to fellow Bongs, if you are in a celebratory mood and willing to drive down, do so. Don't look at this joint for your daily dose of Bong. I don't have any suggestion for the management, they are arrogant and wouldn't listen anyways.
Are you a bong?? and looking for good yammy bengali food??.... here is the place..." Yammy Bengal "!! I tried chkn rolls and Chkn Biriyani with Chkn Chap...!! And trust me, after having biriyani 4times here in mumbai....I somehow thought not to try anymore..... but, after trying here.....I almost got my taste back....like Kolkata.
Really sorry to say but the food needs to be improved a LOT. We ordered since we had a strong urge to eat Bong food (have eaten it many times earlier). The food that we got took 1 hr to deliver and was cold and too oily and packed so poorly. I really would request your team to work harder on getting the taste and presentation right. Thane needs a bong -food corner! I hope you guys will improve and i ll order again :) good luck :)
