Both Plaza Premium Lounge and Windmills Craftworks are recommended for visiting. Try perfectly cooked pesto pasta, chicken wings and cheese pizza at this bar. To taste tasty flija is a really nice idea. You will be offered delicious craft beer, stout or ale. Iced coffee is good, try it.
Windmills Craftworks is well known for its great service and friendly staff, that is always ready to help you. You may be impressed with fair prices at this place. The cute decor and nice ambiance let guests feel relaxed here. 4.4 is what this spot got from the Google rating system.
Ambience: I was seated upstairs. The woodwork gave a nice feel to the place. It is not air-conditioned but still well ventilated and a comfortable space.
Service: Excellent. The staff is well drilled and efficient as you find in Windmills Craftworks. I like the fact that they leave the service charge at the discretion of the customer. Thank you!
Drinks: For the folks who are familiar with Windmills and Geist the list will not appear different. This is not a brewery mind you. The beers are kegged from the plant or brewing tanks. I did not have much time for check-in so went for only a full pint of the famous Windmills Hefeweizen. I rate this as the 2nd best Hefe in town after Toit Weiss. It was a delight and met the expectation. Loved the lacing left behind as the fluffy head went all the way down the glass, see the picture. Apart from the Hefe, the Windmills list included a Mango Ale and Stout. Geist were offering half pints of Belgian Wit, Dunkel and Marzen. Price is Rs 500 for the 500 ml full pint which is alright after weighing in the Windmills and Airport factors. Ain't this way way better than sipping a KF for 6 times original price at the departure gates??
Food: There are no main courses in the list. Only sandwiches and nibbles are available. I chose the Malabar Fried Fish. The fishes are assortment of chunks of Dorado, Perch and Indian Salmon fried in Rava Batter. They come in a bowl along with beaten rice flakes (pori as they call in Malabar), fried/dried coconut strips (kopra in Malayalam), peanuts with garnish of Curry leaves. While the dish is not exactly a Malabar delicacy it is quite a treat and combines perfectly with the beers. I loved biting into those coconut pieces as I should ?. You can observe from the photo that the dish is superbly presented and almost same as the Malabar Seafood Basket at Windmills Craftworks but sans Prawns and shrimps.
