Detailed Review: We were invited to try out the exquisite spread at WelcomCafe, Jacaranda. The menu has been revamped and a new executive chef has taken charge. There were a lot of changes since the last time I visited WelcomCafe. The menu included Indian, South Indian as well as Western cuisine. The focus is on serving top of the class local spread, alongside Western delicacies. The place also has an sumptous buffet spread, and foodies can choose from a variety of options there too.
For starters, we tried Ghost Galout with Shermal, Murgh Angar, Mahi tikka, Karwar fried prawns, Batter fish fried served with tartar sauce and Mysore Chilli Chicken. All the dishes were cooked to perfection. My personal favorite was Ghost Galout - it was the best one I ever had - one that melts in the mouth ! Brownie points for the fish fry as well ! The masalas and the 'localized' feel of each dish set the bar high for the upcoming main course.
For main course, we tried Ghost Bhuna, Murgh Korma, Chapa Pulusu, Salmon steak with lemmon butter and cream, Kori gassi, akki roti, assorted Indian breads (taftan, warqui paratha and naan) and ghost dum biryani. The flavours, the spices and the combination of the chicken/meat with the base masalas went in perfectly well for all the dishes. I personally loved the ghost bhuna and murgh korma more. The chicken/meat pieces were so succulent and the flavour went in perfectly well. Another masterpiece was the Biryani. Now, when it comes to biryani, I like my biryani with a lot of masalas, aroma, basmati and succulent pieces of meat. What was served to us was nothing less than a masterpiece ! The touch of ittar added a magic touch to the already amazing biryani !
Desserts ! I believe that all is well that ends well. I actually loved how they gave a unique touch to their desserts. We had filter coffee ice cream, paan sabayo rasmalai and gajar halwa strudel. The filter coffee ice cream was amazing - had the distinct coffee taste bursting out. The rasmalai was soft and had the perfect sweetness. Gajar halwa strudel was again, a personal favorite !
Service and hospitality is top notch. Trained staff, who will courteously help you out in your choice of dishes. Waiting time between ordering the food and receiving on the table is low, so you can dig in your favorite dishes right away !
Ambience is simple, yet gives a luxurious feel. Best part is the price ! Compared to other such places to dine in, WelcomCafe offers on the cheapest prices !
I am definitely going back again !
