Detailed review. We booked the Retro Jamming session presented by Oopar club, hosted at Warehouse.81. The place is easy to find and reach, ample street side parking available. Upon entry, you are not allowed to bring any outside food or beverage, not even water. Inside, the place is big, with a bar counter, which also serves as a food counter. There's also a duplex sitting area. A separate smoking zone is needed, as people were directly smoking in the crowd and it was troubling us. We only had the veg rolls, which were amazing. And since it's a new place, it's well kept and clean so far. Now about the jamming session. I think the event organiser doesn't understand what 'jamming' means. When we reached, they're doing some crowd work and getting people to sing random songs. This alone went for almost an hour, their show was planned for 5pm, and hadn't even started till 6:30pm. After a lot of random activities, finally they started. Ofcourse the theme was retro, 80s 90s songs, but their singers, the ones with guitars, didn't have the voice or skill to sing those. And then suddenly they started forcing everyone to get up, clear the space and start dancing??? This is a jamming session, if we wanted to dance, we would go to a dance club. And since these were old songs, most of them don't have the beat to dance. People who were drunk were obviously dancing on everything. Their choice of songs was poor, no proper band as such, just 2 singers with guitar. And too many people from their crew recording every damn thing, just to boost their social media presence. This is not how it works. We paid ₹1500 for an average to low experience. Out of which only ₹200 was redeemed for food. So ₹1300 for this kinda "jamming" session wasn't at all worth it. There were so many actual singers in the crowd, who couldn't sing and jam, bcz these people kept forcing everyone to dance. Warehouse.81 should take note of this, please, as this will hamper experience of your establishment as well. Also, the people sitting in the duplex area were enjoying this as well, not sure if they also paid for the jamming session or not. If not, then I would feel robbed of my money.
