The Villa Shanty Hotel has beautiful decor & is nestled in the heart of Pondicherry within the french district. Good value accomodation restaurant menu is a little thin for vegetarian choices - nonetheless the place has charm & oozes with history.

Our party of four arrived for dinner at 6pm and were told that the restaurant opens at 7pm. However, we were welcome to have a drink as the bar was open and so were seated and showed menus. When we wanted to order a drink, staff were milling around ignoring us and we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. After 30 mins we left in disgust. In general the place looks nice but with such appalling customer service I recommend avoiding eating or staying here.
