We tried the Chocolate Cheese Sandwich, Garlic Cheese Sandwich, Butter Dabeli, and Cold Coffee Milkshake at Viju’s Dabeli. The Butter Dabeli was flavorful and well-made, though slightly on the spicier side. The Garlic Cheese Sandwich was delicious, but a bit more cheese would have made it perfect. The Cold Coffee Milkshake stood out, creamy, smooth, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. One small suggestion would be to add an option for a plain chocolate sandwich, as the cheese-chocolate combination may not appeal to everyone. Viju Dabeli has the reputation of serving authentic Dabeli on College road and honestly we now understand why. Vijus Dabeli was the first to introduce this wonderful dish to Nashik in 1994 and since then has become a landmark spots serving street food for students on College Road. This street reminded me of various Khau Galis of Mumbai where you would have people known for their specialities. They started as street food vendor but now have a indoor seating area for people who would like to unwind with their other specialities like sandwiches and pulao. However, we decided to adventure this street food style and enjoyed the making of this wonderful looking dish. We found them quite reasonable and considering their legacy we feel this is one of those spots you should definitely try for the sake of their authenticity.
