Plain Rice -Rs.60. Double Omlette with Mushrooms -Rs.60. Vegetable Manchurian -Rs.180 Vibes Restaurant, Umpling, Shillong Chinese 29.08.24 Today one of the page's follower had recommended a small eatery in Umpling. On reaching the place it was open but they had only momo & drumsticks. It was 2pm lunch time & I wanted something more substantial but didn't want to go far either. So I stopped at the next place I saw & I entered inside & the worker was fast asleep so I left. Then I went a little more ahead & I saw @vibes.restaurant. Now I remember the signboard, it was the same as the one that used to be in Nongrim Hills. Infact 4-5 years before Covid I used to frequent it often & had even help them open a FB page. Anyway I climbed up the stairs to a big but modest looking space which had an amazing view of the Shillong Peak behind the endless number of electricity lines. I sat down & asked for the menu, it was all Chinese; I wasn't going anywhere. I asked what wasn't available & the lady said prawns & chicken. Now that left me with just pork. So I asked for a Pork Chowmein. 2 mins later I changed my mind as I've been eating noodles for lunch much too frequently, so I asked for plain rice, veg Manchurian, since I've not had it in years & a double Omlette with mushrooms. The food came, it looked simple. Something I have been looking forward to. The rice was alot. I kept away half. The veg Manchurian had 8 big balls of vegetables & the omlette had small sliced mushrooms inside. As usual, I plated the food & started eating & though it was a simple fare, it was very satisfying. As I left, I noticed people getting ready to have a live gig event in the same place. So must be a hip & happening place. Instagram ID - kari.on.eats.
