During my search for a quick and satisfying meal, I stumbled upon Verb Fast Food, a small shack run by a family. With the closure of local street carts, I decided to give this place a try. The family members all contributed their efforts, and it seemed like the son was the head chef, or so I assumed. As I entered, I noticed that the menu was similar to what you would find at a typical street food cart. However, the difference here was that they had seating arrangements, which was a welcome change. To be honest, this place felt like it required a lot of improvement, particularly in the chef's cooking skills and stamina. I placed my order for Chicken Chowmein, Chicken Fried Rice, and Chilly Chicken. Unfortunately, the wait for my order was incredibly long, and it made me appreciate the importance of having a proper seating area. Considering that it was run by a family outside their house, I had expected a slightly higher level of hygiene compared to the street cart. However, my hopes were dashed when I witnessed the chef using his hands to pack the noodles and fried rice, even though there were spoons and ladles available. It seemed like the chef was trying to imitate the street cart style, but it ended up causing delays despite most of the ingredients being readily available. Now, let's talk about the taste of the food, which was quite disappointing. The dishes were overly saturated with soy sauce and vinegar, overpowering any other flavors. There was a lack of vegetables and onions, and the chicken pieces were few and burnt. It became evident that the chicken suffered while the chef was searching for ingredients to add. In terms of quantity, the food provided was about three-fourths of what you would receive from a street cart, yet the prices remained the same. Overall, my experience at Verb Fast Food was not worth the money and time. Fast street food should be served quickly, be tasty, and offer value for money, but unfortunately, this place did not meet any of those expectations. I hope that Verb Fast Food takes these points into consideration and works on improving their offerings. Perhaps, in the future, I might consider revisiting the place if these issues are addressed.
