Worst Dosa Experience This was the worst dosa I’ve ever eaten. It was overly oily, too crispy, and the taste was just bad. Definitely not worth trying. Price per person: ₹200–400

I was having one of the toughest days of my life — abandoned by my parents, running around hospitals and government offices in Ranchi trying to retrieve my lost birth documents. After hours of being turned away, I stepped into Veeraswamy Café near the Collectorate just to grab a bite and use my laptop to figure out my next steps. I ordered food and quietly sat down. While I was working on my laptop, a person who seemed to be the owner, wannabe gangster guy walked over and, instead of showing the slightest bit of empathy or respect, said: “Do you think this is an office? Just finish your food and leave.” It was shocking and humiliating. This is supposed to be a café — a place where people can sit, breathe, and work. I wasn’t being disruptive or taking up space without ordering. I was just trying to get through my day with a bit of dignity. The café was overpriced and the attitude was inhumane. If you can’t treat people with basic respect — especially someone clearly going through something — you shouldn't be running a business that deals with people. Veeraswamy Café is a quick service restaurant, not a co-working space and therefore our expectation is simple and reasonable: customers are welcome to enjoy their meal, but not to occupy a table for hours doing personal work after placing an order while other customers may be waiting for a seat. This isn’t just a matter of policy—it’s basic common sense / etiquette and courtesy in any dine-in environment. Using the café as an office for extended periods disrupts our ability to serve other customers, which directly affects the business. This is a restaurant, not an office/lounge/co-working space. Our team's intention was not to humiliate or disrespect you but to state what was necessary under the circumstances, and we stand by the decision.
