Good south indian cafe in very main market area of ranchi. Loved the mysore dosa here with perfect balance of sour and spicy and apt crunch. South indian filter coffee was aromatic and strong. Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: ₹200–400 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

I was having one of the toughest days of my life — abandoned by my parents, running around hospitals and government offices in Ranchi trying to retrieve my lost birth documents. After hours of being turned away, I stepped into Veeraswamy Café near the Collectorate just to grab a bite and use my laptop to figure out my next steps. I ordered food and quietly sat down. While I was working on my laptop, a person who seemed to be the owner, wannabe gangster guy walked over and, instead of showing the slightest bit of empathy or respect, said: “Do you think this is an office? Just finish your food and leave.” It was shocking and humiliating. This is supposed to be a café — a place where people can sit, breathe, and work. I wasn’t being disruptive or taking up space without ordering. I was just trying to get through my day with a bit of dignity. The café was overpriced and the attitude was inhumane. If you can’t treat people with basic respect — especially someone clearly going through something — you shouldn't be running a business that deals with people.
