Perhaps it's not fair for me to write a review of Vagabond, as the proprietors have become personal friends now. We live in the neighbourhood, and have been visiting the place every now and then. We love it for its cosy, informal atmosphere; the wonderful conversations we've had with the owners; and of course the superlative food. What impelled me to write this review was the way they handled the catering for my daughter's birthday celebrations. They had to deal with a range of food preferences, some vegetarian and some um, not so vegetarian. In addition, my mother's health issues meant that at least a few dishes had to be entirely free of anything spicy or sour. They handled all this with aplomb. The food was ready well within the time promised, and the food was terrific. As starters we had asked for Chilly Potato (quite nice); Fish Fingers (decent but not exceptional); Chicken Fry Goan style (delicious); and Butter Garlic Prawn (beyond superb). The main courses were uniformly excellent. Particularly the Chicken Biryani - full of flavour, with plenty of meat, and yet not the least bit spicy. Another highlight was the Mutton Xacuti, possibly my favourite. So were the Chicken Cafreal, the Veg Pulao, and the Mixed Veg pretty good. And for dessert we were served a long-standing favourite, traditional Goan-style Caramel Pudding beautifully done. All in all a most satisfactory experience. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

A FLAVOUR FULL DELIGHT AT VAGABOND BAR and RESTAURANT, Arossim, South Goa. I recently dined at this restaurant at Arossim, South Goa and the highlight of the meal was their Pork Vindaloo. The dish was expertly prepared with very tender pork in a rich and flavourful Goan masala which was very flavourful and aromatic as well. The Pork was cooked to perfection with the Vindaloo sauce which added a nice spicy and tangy kick to the dish. The use of traditional spices and ingredients brought out the best possible authentic flavours of Traditional Goa. The service was excellent. It's run by a Goan family and was absolutely a home cooked delight. As a side dish I ordered a Bombil Rava fry. Lip smacking Good. The freshest fish was used and it was amazing. All in all a very happy experience at Vagabond. I would recommend everyone to try this place. They have a First floor small party place too. I would definitely come back for some salted beef tongue and beef chilli fry.
