URBAN BAR-B-QUE, located on Avinashi Road in Coimbatore, offers a range of service options including dine-in, takeaway, and delivery. Known for its barbecue cuisine, the restaurant provides a variety of meals and beverages, featuring an extensive offering such as halal food, alcohol including beer, wine, and cocktails, as well as a coffee selection. The dining experience is accompanied by amenities like a bar on site, wheelchair-accessible facilities, and free parking. Families will find it accommodating with options for kids' menus and high chairs.
The atmosphere at URBAN BAR-B-QUE is characterized as casual and cozy, catering well to both groups and private dining experiences. While some visitors noted good service and kid-friendliness, there were varying opinions on the taste and variety of the dishes. Highlighted menu items include fish nirvana and Lucknowi mutton biryani. Reservations are accepted and required, suggesting that planning ahead is advised for those wishing to visit.
URBAN BAR-B-QUE is open every day from 12 PM to 4 PM and then again from 7 PM to 11 PM, providing flexibility for both lunch and dinner plans. The limited spread mentioned in reviews might be a consideration for those seeking a wide array of options. Currently, there is a lack of recent information from the restaurant's management, which could impact decision-making for potential diners. Overall, URBAN BAR-B-QUE appears to offer a straightforward but versatile dining experience.
We had booked tables well in advance today for a group of around 40 people. 35 of us arrived on time and were seated—and then, for the next 20 minutes, we were completely ignored. No food. No water. Not even the courtesy of a basic greeting or an update. When we asked what the delay was, the manager—completely nonchalant and shockingly indifferent—told us they would only start service after all 40 guests arrived.Let that sink in: 35 people sitting at their tables, waiting, hungry, and ready to eat—and the restaurant flat-out refused to begin service because a few were late. It was insulting. Absolutely no sense of hospitality, no concern for the experience of their guests, and not even the slightest effort to handle the situation professionally. And this wasn’t the first time. The last time we dined here, we had booked tables from 12 to 2 PM. Not only did the service crawl at a snail’s pace, but by 2 PM, when another group came in, they literally moved us to a different table mid-meal just to make space for the new guests. Who treats their customers like this? Who thinks this is acceptable?I didn’t leave a review back then because I thought, maybe, just maybe, it was a one-off. Maybe they were having a bad day. But clearly, this is a pattern. I am writing this now because it’s obvious this isn’t a one-time lapse—this is how they operate. I’m not just disappointed—I’m furious. This is the most appalling excuse for a restaurant I’ve ever had the misfortune of visiting, and I’ve dined at countless places across Coimbatore. This place doesn’t deserve your time, money, or patience. There are far better BBQ options on Avinashi Road—places that understand what basic customer service looks like. This one? It needs to go. Let it be buried under the weight of its own arrogance and mismanagement. Avoid it like the plague.

Barbeque is all about experience, flavor, & variety of food.
URBAN BAR-B-QUE gave us the worst service in all of the above categories. Ground staff don't have any touch points with customers. They just serve food like a marriage function. For a group of 6 people, they placed one stick of each item on the barbeque. When we asked to refill the starters, they had the audacity to bring it at the end of our meal. Really bad timing & service.
Atmosphere & Tables are next bad experience, big tables & uncomfortable sofa's. Customers need to move front & back to take any item on the table. Only center-row tables get good lighting and the Corner tables are dark & really bad music. Also, customers can feel barbeque grill box heat on legs. Very bad design & experience.
Both Veg & Non-Veg Barbeque Costs the same. The menu & items are very basic & plain. Barbeque needs some unique taste. Not worth for money. Over all again it feels like having some street food.
Next, the buffet menu is a big disappointment, No Green & Red button indication in the item lable. So customers need to read & search for Veg & Non-Veg items. And the irony is that the veg items are named like "veg Chicken tikka", "veg mutton curry" etc.
On the buffet table “Indian breads - On demand” menu was kept in a small standee. But customers do not know where & how to get that item. No Ground staff are there to help, take orders & serve. Also, I noticed none of the customers got any Indian bread on their plates.
The quantity of green chutney & tomato sauce kept on the table is very low & bad quality & taste. Even if you request for more Quantity the time they take & way they serve is bad.
The dessert menu was ok, but again the icecreams were limited and the taste was poor.
At last, when we asked for the bill, they took their sweet time and we went to the counter to ask and pay for the bill. At the bill counter Fennel Seeds, Rock candy & betelnut were kept in a small cup & It was all mixed-up with each other.
Over All not worth for money & we had a really bad time.
