Ordered 2 mutton Biryani each ₹250 and the quality and quantity are very low. I hardly got 3 mutton pieces in each box.

Ambience was the only good thing here.
Food taste is average. Biriyani was ok. Roti was very hard and we were unable to bite.
Service was pathetic... There were lot of people to roaming around but no one understands either English or Tamil. All they say is please wait. Finally a person came after an hour saying that some of your items were missed. I would never recommend anyone to go there..it was one of my worst experience

There are some restaurants that give some good experiences and some that make us regret the decision for selecting it...And Uppu Milagu located in thuraipakkam was one such experience..After a lovely weekend with family in ECR we were looking for places near thuraipakkam to end our trip on a happy note..And after a day at the beach most of us were longing for chettinad/south indian food and when Uppu Milagu came accross we thought of trying it out..

As Said its located on the 200ft radial road right near the junction of Thuraipakkam about 100 mts from the toll gate..The restaurant has some road side parking only and it doesnt seem much like an issue considering the locality and broad stretch of the road..

This restaurant has opened in the place of Border rahmath kadai and have changed the interiors a bit..In addition to the normal seating area 30 odd ppl they also have this floor seating area that resembles any chettinad houses..Good design and well made with cushions to have a comfortable seating..

Now lets come to the worst aspect of this place..As the normal area was half full given our nubers we were led to this area which actually is a place to seat two sets of 4 ppl each but removing the centre block they were trying to squeeze in 20 ppl in this small area..we were not satisfied with this but due to the tiredness and hunger we were ok to adjust and made a grp of 4 elders to take a normal seating and the rest of us squeezed in this area..Even then it felt small as once we got seated 2 ppl werent able sit facing each other as the plates were not able come in this small gap and only god knows what will happen if we order more dishes..But even then we squeezed in and gave in to the tiredness and other issues like having kids and elders with us who were not happy to move out..Even then the bad experiences didnt stop there..

It was 2 pm by the time we settled down and we were all interested in meals and that was the main reason to drop in here..the moment we stepped in we asked if all items in the menu are available and the option was a yes with a pride which actually fell short in seconds..while placing the order itself we were told that the fish meals were over a few seconds later veg meals too were over and this kept on going with Ghee rice, Fried rice and many other items..And after few of changed orders and accommodating others with some other items we were done with ordering..about 15 mins waiting for starters we were told that the tandoori was over and will take another half hour to get ready..cant these ppl check the availability before..Disgust over our fate we canceled it and were waiting for other items..The rest of the food arrived and that too in a chaotic manner..and the one starter we ordered was the last dish to arrive on the table its named starter for a reason i guess...Let me talk about the food later on...

Now comes the worst part this particular captain or manager who took care of out table started on a good note..but with time a particular attribute of his attitude got to our nerves..There were so many problems with the food..and when ever we complained on some thing he threw an answer of "Sorry i will make this Complimentary"..and he was not even accepting the problems we had...When asked, the reason for this mishap given was the regular cooks were off to their new outlet..I wish them luck for their new outlet but if they leave their old outlets to this fate then even God wont be able to help them..

Now lets discuss the less food we had..

Fried Rice : Ordered a few varieties of the Same like Schezwan mushroom(rs150) and veg Fried rice(rs140) and a Chicken fried rice(rs170)..As such the taste of these items was good but too much oil kind of spoiled the whole experience..And to top it all the quantity served was too less for the price of the dishes..

Biryani : Ordered Mutton(rs220), Chicken(rs180) and Chicken 65(rs210) biryanis..As Usual less of quantity and the meat to was not good..with chicken pieces mixed in the mutton biryani it was all over the place...and when we were about to eat it the biryani inside was on the colder side..not even on room temp..when complained all the guy said was that it was just prepared and right of the vessel we even asked to touch it which he wasnt ready to do..The taste as such was on the better side..The Chicken 65 pieces were lacking marination though..

Egg Kothu Parotta(rs140) : Decent in taste and quantity too with slighty on the spicier side..but 140rs for a egg kothu seemed a bit of a stretch to me..

Meals : Now comes the lousy part..Few of us ordered meals and after confusions it was reduced to half with many of us changing our orders and even then it was not served properly..First they gave us the empty plates which were later taken back..and the plates when served had one item or the other missing in them..Decent rice and sides were served and the non veg gravies were pretty good in taste..quite liked it...The sweet a so called kesari was a so bad that it felt more like dry puttu with less sweetness..usually places that serves spl non veg meals have a boiled egg..but here they claim its not the case but later on they served it and called it complimentary..

In my 30 years of life and 5-6 years as a food-blogger this place managed to produce the most confused and chaotic service ever..Keeping the aspect of quantity and VFM separate the place served some decent to good tasting food with a decent ambiance too..But when the service is this bad that it leaves a bad taste nothing else will feel better after that..And the worst part was the reason given that the usual cooks were off to their new outlet..Any restaurant should think of expansion only after they have got their basics in the first outlet right as this kind of expansion will not help in the long run..

Though we did not want to call the manager and ruin our lunch a bit more the person was right there and was witnessing everything but no steps were taken to extend a formal apology..And the concept of complimentary food items for a bad experience wont make things right..

The so called kesari in the meals echoed our whole experience actually...It spoiled a good meals as this restaurant experience spoiled/gave a bad finish to a wonderful weekend..Not to be harsh but just to give a actual picture...previous night we 20 ppl had a dinner at at roadside Dhaba which gave better service than this place..

Though the food ranges from decent to good...Based on my experience on service a complete no from me for this place..
