Once the promenade around the St. Lukes Church is over, visit Upavihar. If you have never come across Vegetarian cuisine, you should order a table and try the menu at this restaurant. Trying nicely cooked masala dosa, vada and sambar is a pleasant experience here. Upavihar guarantees you tasty pancakes. It's time to degustate great coffee.

The staff is well-trained that's what makes this place so nice. People mention that the service is cool here. Pay low prices for eating at this spot. You will certainly like the exotic atmosphere. But guests rate this restaurant below average on Google.

Tried their Mysore masala dosa, Mangalore buns, Sambar vada , kesari and bisi bele bath. Been in Bengaluru, I would say every item had the authentic Karnataka cuisine taste and were so good. Must try: Bisi bele bath. On spot on flavor with balance of spiciness and the subtle sweetness. Service: Dine in Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: ₹200–400 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Mangalore Buns, Sambar Vada, Mysore Masala Dosa, Benne Dosa, Bisi Bele Bath

Either you love it or hate it! Most 5 star reviews are from people who like this peculiar taste. But typical Chennai guys will hate it because everything is sweet! Even sambar! Don’t know why they keep chutney in freezer and serve it ice cold- hated it. Sambar had no spice and tasted dead. But they serve Chennai sambar also. Benne dosa was crispy but the side dishes spoiled the taste. Staff is good, prices reasonable. They are open till late night. Couple of tables available to stand and eat food. Parking can be found in main road. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ₹1–200 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3 Recommended dishes: Benne Dosa Parking space: Somewhat difficult to find parking Parking options: Paid street parking

I seriously don’t understand why people keep hyping this place up. Maybe they have some magical taste buds that I don’t. I used to like their food in the beginning, but now? It’s just terrible. So, here’s my delightful experience from today. I visited Upavihar (the one opposite LKS, the old one) around 3 PM on February 19, 2025, and ordered a Masala Dosa and Rava Idly. Given how much they charge, I expected at least something edible. But the coconut chutney was overloaded with salt, and the sagu with the Rava Idly? Might as well have been a dessert, considering how sweet it was. Now, the real fun began with the dosa. First, they served one that was pale, undercooked, and nowhere near crispy. When I asked for a replacement, they brought me one that was completely burnt. I mean, if I wanted something this charred, I could have just thrown a dosa straight into the fire myself. Frustrated, I didn’t even bother arguing and just called them to address the issue before writing this review. I spoke to Anish Akkalaneni, who claimed to be the GM. Not sure what exactly he’s managing because quality control is clearly not on the list. For those leaving glowing reviews, maybe think twice before praising food that isn’t even cooked properly. This isn’t the first time I’ve received a burnt dosa here, so it’s clearly not a one-time mistake. They’re happily charging ridiculous prices in the name of "authentic Bangalore dosa" while serving overpriced, low-quality food. Hope you at least provide the bare minimum for what we are paying. Attached the snips for your reference :/ btw rava idly was okayish :) Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ₹1–200 Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3
