Turban Tales is synonymous with Punjabi vibe at its best. Simply a place to enjoy a heart warming meal in a typical dhaba ambience. Of course this is a roof top Dhaba which makes it even more cool. The beautifully lit tree in the center is perfectly decorated for giving a radiant look to the place. Loved the round table under the tree and that’s where we sat and enjoyed our meal. The other options were khatiyas where dining in the typical village style can be enjoyed. The service is amazing and the whole staff is very very warm and cordial.
Coming to the food, we tried some amazing stuff like;
- khilji kebabs : We tried the veg version. This is An absolute must try here. Well pounded vegetables and roasted dry nuts and shaped like kebabs on a really long giant sized skewer and chargrilled to perfection. These kebabs come to your table in a special way where the chef comes dressed in a traditional attire with the huge hot skewer with the kebabs in his hand and serves you with a lot of love. We were fascinated with the flavour of roasted almonds in each bite. A novelty for sure. Mild flavour but definitely worth a try.
- Jhal Muri : A Kolkata style chaat which is like a Dry bhel but this is special as it has a mild punch of Mustard oil. This was an ideal appetiser to start the meal with especially along with some drinks.
- Makhani Fondue : Again a must try dish. Make sure you are really hungry or u have at least 3-4 people with you to consume this dish. It’s rich and heavy but absolutely Divine. So it’s a Makhani flavoured fondue which comes with croutons and mainly 3 flavoured paneer tikkas. Malai, Hariali and the regular tikkas. The paneer quality is fantastic. And the flavour of the fondue is ideal. Do try for sure.
- Dahi wale gol gappe with rasam shots. Chilled sweet dahi puri served with hot spicy tangy rasam…. A match made in heaven. A very innovative combination and extremely addictive. I couldn’t stop relishing this. The rasam could have had a slightly more punch I feel. This was moreover slightly mild.
- Sizzling Gulab jamun. A must try dessert here. Perhaps we tried all the best of dishes so almost all things are a must try here … ha ha but this is innovative and looks insta worthy too. There are 3 layers in here with base of crumbled cookies, center is the gulab jamun pieces and top layer is a cheese cake. All 3 layers together make it a perfect bite.
- Pan ice cream. Last but not the least an in-house special icecream. A good version.
Overall a fab experience and definitely worth the travel for me. In fact don’t mind a visit there every month.
