Tripti Restaurant – A Disgrace to Bengali Cuisine If there were an award for the most disgraceful attempt at Bengali cuisine, Tripti Restaurant would win hands down. In fact, the only “tripti” (satisfaction) you’ll get here is when you leave and vow never to return. Let’s start with the food—or whatever this bland, lifeless imitation of Bengali dishes is supposed to be. The so-called shorshe ilish tasted like boiled fish drowned in yellow water. The kosha mangsho was a disgrace—tough, flavorless, and resembling something that had been left out for days. And the mishti doi? More like expired yogurt mixed with disappointment. Then there’s the hygiene—or lack thereof. The plates had remnants of previous diners’ meals, the cutlery was stained, and the water glasses looked like they hadn’t been washed in weeks. The floors were sticky, the tables were greasy, and let’s not even talk about the state of the washroom. As for customer service, if you enjoy being ignored, glared at, and made to feel like a burden for daring to order food, this is the place for you. The staff acts as if they’re doing you a favor by serving you, and don’t even think about asking for recommendations or substitutions—you’ll be met with a cold stare and possibly some muttered curses. The worst part? This place dares to call itself Bengali. Let’s be clear: this is NOT Bengali food. Any self-respecting Bengali would be appalled at the abomination they serve here. It’s an insult to our rich culinary heritage, a crime against mustard oil, and a blasphemy to the art of slow-cooked flavors. If you’re a Bengali craving authentic food, run in the opposite direction. If you’re not Bengali but want to try the cuisine, please don’t let this place be your introduction. Frankly, this restaurant should be shut down for false advertising and crimes against taste buds. Avoid it like you would stale fish.
