If you prefer Chinese and Tibetan cuisines, then Tibet Memorial Restaurant is worth visiting. The unique characteristic of this place is serving tasty momos, noodles and chicken. The friendly staff welcomes guests all year round. The fabulous service is a big advantage of this spot. You will appreciate the fine decor.
During our visit we ordered soups and noodles, the quantity of the soups took us by surprise, it was more than we can handle. The noodles however could have been better.
It's an AC restaurant and the decorations are something that will remind you of Nepal and Darjeeling in an instant.
Coming to food, I was surprised that they served fresh hand made flat noodles ( thenthuk ).
The chicken was boiled surprisingly well and had a 'melt-in-mouth' kind of texture. The quantity was surprisingly a lot. I also had Veg. Momo's and the veggies were a little undercooked.
However, overall this is a restaurant I will recommend to anyone who is ready to drop a couple bucks for good food.
I went on a Saturday evening and there were small groups of four to five people, mostly students. And they weren't loud, either. Which is just the way I like it. This could be a good place for a personal conversation, but judging from its popularity, this restaurant could get full fast. It's perfect as a hub for food enthusiasts to hang out and explore.
As for the food, this is one of the best places for momos. I ordered takeaway, and though they had become mushy by the time I reached home, they still tasted pretty great. A little oily, but good nonetheless. I waited for about 15 minutes for my order, and that's quite reasonable considering the cooking time.
One plate of momos had a generous amount of 10 pieces. I thought they would've skipped the sauce since it was a takeaway, but they did pack it up in a tiny sealer bag. It wasn't the greatest (again, oily), but was good enough.
The price was reasonable too. Good place for a second visit. Who knows, I may even become a regular there.
