must visit if you like spicy punjabi food.
a bit costly but worth it.
The Turban is vastly spread, dimly lit with a very simple sitting arrangement. Until our visit, we didn’t know this restaurant is a venture of Shree Mehfil. At that point our excitement grew, we all know about their popularity.
We ordered below dishes:
1: Masala Papad
2: Hot N Sour Soup
3: Karari Roomali Roti
4: Paneer Angara (Today’s special)
5: Butter Naan
6: Garlic Naan
7: Amritsari Biryani (Today’s special)
We told them we needed the Karari Romali Roti to be super thin, crispy and it was made accordingly. It was actually super perfect and the best I’ve had till now. Coming to the subzi, whenever you order a paneer dish. In most of the case, the gravy is very simple. The one served to us was looking way better than what we had imagined. It came in a sizzler tray and the julienne paneer was too good. The gravy with thin-sliced bell peppers and grated paneer was the perfect combination. I am also someone who loves potatoes in biryani and this is by far the only restaurant I have encountered who had potatoes in the biryani. The naans were also excellent, you could easily make out the freshness from their softness.
I am not boasting, but this was the best ever North Indian food I have had in Ahmedabad. Kunal has been to Punjab and he supported my claim stating that the food was authentic and excellent. The team at The Turban was so peculiar and attentive that our every minute requirement was taken care of. Someone could not ask more than that I guess.
The Turban is now one of our favorite places to eat. They are really living up to their names and successfully carrying forward the legacy started by Late Mr. Balvant Singh Bhatia who opened up the first restaurant named “Khalsa Hindu Hotel” in 1948.
Hats off to Amit Bhatia and his team. While paying for the food I literally ask the manager to share the owner’s name and number and I immediately gave him a call of appreciation, thanking him for the unexpected fantastic experience we had at The Turban.
We felt guilty that despite being in operation for more two and a half years, we paid them a visit on 28-08-19. Have you visited The Turban? If not, save yourself from the guilt at the earliest possible.
Zomato Gold accepted.
