This restaurant is well known for offering Chinese and Indian cuisines. The recipe for success of The Traveller's Table is its nicely cooked pilaf, filet américain and chicken. The staff is said to be good here. Enjoyable service is a strong point that plays a great role for the success of this place. You will certainly appreciate the cozy atmosphere. 1. Location & Accessibility:. Travellers Table is situated in Tangmarg Market, a prime and busy location that makes the café easily accessible to both locals and travelers heading toward Gulmarg. The area around is always bustling with activity, and having a café like this in such a central spot definitely holds potential. For anyone passing through or waiting on a ride toward higher altitudes, this café offers a stopover point. 2. Ambience & Vibe:. The vibe inside the café was just average. While it’s spacious and has a certain rustic charm to it, the energy inside felt somewhat lacking. It didn’t have the warmth or inviting feel that one usually expects from a place with the name “Travellers Table.” It seems like the café is trying to cater to wanderers and tourists, but the actual atmosphere doesn’t quite match the theme or expectations the name sets. 3. Interior & Comfort:. The interiors are decent but visibly aging. While the space is large enough to accommodate a good number of guests, the furniture looks worn out and in need of an upgrade. The chairs and tables have likely served for quite a while, and their wear and tear is now noticeable enough to affect the overall appeal. The place would truly benefit from a renovation—perhaps with refreshed furniture and a more cohesive aesthetic that reflects its “travellers” branding more accurately. 4. Food Availability & Experience:. When it came to the food, the experience was unfortunately disappointing. I initially ordered a coffee and requested a walnut brownie, but was told it wasn’t available. I then asked for blueberry cake, and again, it was unavailable. A café without its key desserts—especially during prime hours—can be quite frustrating. These are basic café items, and not having them in stock reflects poorly on the kitchen’s preparedness. Eventually, I settled for a coffee paired with pakodas, as recommended by the staff. While I appreciated the suggestion, the combination didn’t work at all. The pakodas lacked finesse, and pairing them with coffee felt like a mismatch of flavors. It seemed more like a last-minute fix than a thoughtfully curated offering. 5. Staff Interaction:. The staff was moderate in nature—neither particularly welcoming nor rude. They were neutral in tone and did the job, but without much enthusiasm or attentiveness. A warmer, more engaging staff approach would greatly help in elevating the overall experience, especially for new customers or travelers looking for comfort. 6. Final Thoughts & Suggestions:. In conclusion, my visit to Travellers Table was a moderate experience. While the location is excellent and the space has potential, the café needs significant improvements to truly deliver what its name suggests. Better upkeep of furniture, consistent availability of menu items, and a more engaging staff could turn this place into a memorable stop for travelers. Right now, it’s more of a missed opportunity than a must-visit. They really need to fix a few things to make it worth the revisit.
