Fish Thali - Rs.130 The Thali, Mawlai Nongkwar, Shillong Indian Thalis $ 03.08.24 Today I'm with my dad for some car works at Nexa. We did not expect it to take so much of time & so we found ourselves hungry at 4pm. We decided to walk down & find lunch. We did cross a couple of eateries but my dad decided on The Thali which was 100metres away from the showroom. We entered inside & it's basically a small eatery. We asked what was available & the pleasant gentleman politely informed that there was Fish, Chicken, Egg, Pork & Beef Thali, no mutton. We both decided on Fish Thali. It took 10mins for the food to arrive. It had rice, dal, mix veg, a soya chunks-beans sabji, fish curry & a chutney. It looked simple & tasty. My dad doesn't like it when it gets all too complicated. Anyway the rice did not look like it was of decent quality but one bite & it did have flavor. The mixed veg sabji was nice, so was the soya chunks & beans fry. The dal was light & thin which I drank it all in the end. The piece of fish was smaller than normal but the curry was good & it had just the right amount of masala. The chutney added some zing to the meal. The only thing I was actually missing was a papad. For the price, it was a good & satisfying meal. The behaviour & mannerism of the gentleman was so pleasing that it added extra flavor to everything. A very rare trait uncommon in many khasi shopkeepers.
