We had booked a sea view room in Leela Kovalam. The rooms and staff were very friendly and hospitable. However, I had the worst experience at any 5 star hotel wrt food at The Terrace. We had breakfast in the morning which was decent and, lunch at The Tides was one of the best. But dinner buffet at The Terrace was disappointing. There was another function and we were merged. I mean what cost cutting measure is that. Everything was literally a havoc. People from the party sat at our assigned table. The people from party should be assigned a designated seating area. For the lunch I had seen a lot of varieties - chats, bao counter, live counters etc. Most of them were absent. Probably due to scale, but where is the reduction in price. This was such a huge cost cutting measure. The dinner costs more (2200 + taxes) than lunch (2000 + taxes) and we get reduced number of items. What logic is this. Staff did not bother about *cross contamination*. I could literally see people putting their hands into dishes and staff not even bothering. Staff were not even educated with cross contamination. This cannot be expected in 5 star hotel. Staff should manage to operate under scale efficiently. Most of them would forget our cutlery and dish request. This is something I we do not expect from a 5 star hotel. Many items were not conspicuous and we had to ask if "roti" and ice cream were even in the menu. I have so much more to complain but I cannot fit this in this. TLDR: Do not go to this restaurant. Experience might be unpredictable. The Tides offers excellent and predictable service. If you need to eat in The Leela that would definitely be a better choice. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ₹2,000+ Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 5
