I recently went for lunch at The Malabar Coast by The Appumm House, located in COWRKS Noida (Sector 62). I’d got to know about this place through Google Maps and was in the mood to try something different, especially South Indian dishes that go beyond just dosa and idli. So I ended up here with my family on a Saturday afternoon. First off, the ambience of the place really caught my attention. It has that coastal South Indian charm going for it! Beautiful wall arts, soft lighting and a calm, inviting vibe. We got a table pretty quickly too and the whole place had a nice, relaxed vibe to it. Coming to the food, we tried quite a bit. Here’s what we ordered: Mushroom Ghee Roast was a strong start! It had a deep, rich flavour that I like in Ghee Roast, be it mushroom or chicken. Vegetable Kurma was quite nice too, especially when paired with their Malabar Parotta. The parottas were hot & flaky but I’d say they got a bit too heavy when I had them with a rich gravy dish like the Chicken Chettinad. Now let me talk about the highlight: Mutton Ularthiyathu. This was easily my favourite thing on the table. It’s been so long since I had a mutton starter this good. Perfectly spiced, tender and so flavourful, I’d honestly come back just for this. On the other hand, the Chicken Chettinad (boneless) was a bit of a letdown. It had too much coconut, the gravy felt dry and the saltiness overpowered everything else. Not really the Chettinad flavour I was expecting. We also tried Vellai Sadam (just plain rice but with a different variety than what you usually get in North India) and Aam Ras, which unfortunately didn’t hit the mark at all. It tasted more like a mango shake that had been sitting in the fridge way too long. For drinks, the Fresh Lime Soda and Masala Coke were both refreshing, though I was definitely enjoyed Masala Coke more. Service-wise, no complaints at all. Everything we ordered came out pretty quickly and the staff was polite and efficient. We didn’t have to wait long for anything after being seated. It was a mixed bag. Some dishes were amazing (mutton starter especially) but some didn’t work out. Still, the vibe and quick service made it a decent outing! Meal type: Dinner Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
