The Leaf caught my attention while I was on my way to Merwans, Borivali. I looked it up on Zomato soon enough and figured their cuisine and decided to try them out soon enough. So one fine rainy night, my friends and I decided to go here for dinner. We were absolutely famished and looked forward to their sort of fusion food.
As we entered, we were super positive about the ambience of the place. It's quite different. Now, mind you, Borivali West has been coming up with new restaurants recently and the market has become quite competitive in terms of food, decor and service. We liked the decor here as it was understated yet quite different. It was a weekday/ weeknight and there were few people so we were free to choose our table. Also, the way to use their restroom is quite quirky. They have a traffic signal right outside the door. If someone is inside, the light is red and you're free to go as soon as it turns green.
What we ordered-
Tomato Soup- I may have the name of the soup wrong here. The soup was majorly tomato with garlic and onion to accompany. It was served with a cheese garlic bread. The soup tasted like they had put in a lot of garlic- and so much garlic literally ruins the taste. But once we were accustomed, we managed to complete it. The bread was fresh and the cheese was generous.
Papdi Chaat- It said that it was a twist on the regular Bombay bhel and the server encouraged us to order so we went ahead with it. Mighty disappointed. All it was was bhelpuri with a tangier taste than usual served with Papad. We had to get the papad changed as it was soft by the time the dish arrived.
Paneer khurchan - By this time, we weren't having a very great experience so we decided if this one wasn't good enough, we would leave it at that. Turns out, this wasn't great as well. This was Paneer kulcha cut into little triangular pieces with minimal cottage cheese served with a dip on the side. There was little or no hint of cottage cheese, mind you.
Post this, we weren't looking forward to much and decided to leave. The service could honestly have been better, the price- not worth it at least for me.
Will I go back? Not so sure.
