We visited The Labyrinth Lakefront, Gandipet for a get-together with 25+ members, mainly because of the lakefront setting and open ambience. While the location has its charm, the overall experience turned out to be disappointing, and I’d now rate it 2 out of 5. The lake view and spacious setup are the only strong positives. It’s a decent place to sit, talk, and enjoy the surroundings, especially in the evening. For large groups, the space works well. We ordered a wide spread including spaghetti meatball pasta, penne chicken alfredo, crispy fried chicken burgers, peri peri chicken wings, fish fingers with tartare sauce, cilantro fish tikka, pesto chicken pizza, margherita pizza, chicken pepperoni pizza, chicken red Thai curry with steamed rice, french fries, corn cheese poppers with spicy lava mayo, desserts like brownie with ice cream and tender coconut brûlée, and drinks such as fresh lime soda, fresh watermelon juice, Oreo and chocolate milkshakes, blue lagoon, and black currant virgin mojito. Some dishes were decent, but many felt average for the high pricing. The biggest disappointment was the billing experience. Our total came close to ₹24,000, which already included a 10% service charge of around ₹2,000. Despite such a large bill, the manager (as mentioned on the bill, Bablu) said they could offer a 10% discount only if the service charge was not removed. This felt very unprofessional and honestly misleading. Especially when this restaurant already runs 30% weekday discounts on Swiggy and Zomato due to high prices, this kind of bargaining to secure a service charge was a big turn-off. To make matters worse, none of the dishes were served or portioned for sharing, everything was just placed on the table, which is inconvenient for large groups. Overall, it clearly felt like they expect one-time visits, not repeat customers. Because of the pricing tactics and poor service ethics, I wouldn’t recommend this place, despite the good location.
