See Sao Jacinto Island and visit this restaurant. Make a change from your customary meal and try nicely cooked fried crabs, fish masala and fish fried rice at The Goan Room. Good curry dessert can be what you need. Delicious draft beer goes well with the nice meal. A lot of visitors order great lemonade, coffee or juice.
The intimate atmosphere of this place allows customers to relax after a hard working day. The cute staff works hard, stays positive and makes this place great. The terrific service is a big advantage of this spot. Tasty food at average prices are provided here. You will be pleasantly surprised by the lovely decor. This restaurant scored 4.2 in the Google rating system.

Hi Everyone, I would like to share an unfortunate incident that happened yesterday late evening( 7th March ) at The Goan Room, Donapaula, Panaji, North Goa. Yesterday, after attending the Shigmo Festival ( Our Local Festival) , I visited the restaurant for dinner along with one of my female friend ( timing approx 10:35 PM )and She was not feeling well. The restaurant was almost full, so we went upstairs and sat at a table. At the table opposite to us, two men were having a discussion while drinking the local Goan drink Urak. One person appeared to be around 44 years old (bald person), and the other around 47 year old. Both are looks like well educated & decent. While we were waiting for our order and discussing about the festival, a waiter who knows me came up the stairs. As he approached, we exchanged a friendly gesture (smile and wave), since we have seen each other multiple times at the same restaurant. At that moment, the two men from the opposite table were going downstairs after paying their bill or for washroom. Suddenly, one of them returned to our table and started verbally abusing me in front of waiter, my female friend & everyone. He accused me of staring at and smiling at him. Both my friend and I were shocked, as we did not understand why this was happening. I calmly explained that I did not know him and that I was only greeting the waiter who knows me. Despite this, the man continued speaking aggressively. The waiter also tried to explain the situation to them, but they continued using abusive language. At that moment, I felt shocked and uncomfortable because the incident happened very suddenly ( timing arround 10.45 PM approx). As both individuals appeared to be intoxicated, I chose not to escalate the situation further. I requested the waiter to call the restaurant manager so that I could formally complain about the behavior. However, no manager and no one came to speak with us. Because of the seriousness of the situation, I contacted the local police. The police arrived at the restaurant within about 15 minutes. They patiently listened to the details of the incident from me, my female friend, the waiter, and the restaurant supervisor. I appreciate the polite and supportive approach of the police officers. As advised by the police team, after finishing dinner I visited the local police station ( timing arround 12:30 AM - 8th March ) with my female friend and filed a police complaint detailing the incident front of the Sr. Police Team members. The police assured me that they would investigate the matter and take appropriate action. I believe the individuals can be identified through CCTV footage, digital billing records, and statements from the restaurant staff. I also hope the restaurant management and the owner, Mr. Rane, will cooperate fully with the police in this matter. I have been living in Goa for many years and have visited The Goan Room regularly for lunches and dinners with friends. I have always had good experiences there, and this is the first time I have faced such an incident — not only at this restaurant but anywhere in Goa. Unfortunately, such behavior by individuals can negatively affect the reputation of the restaurant as well as the spirit of Goan hospitality. For now, I am waiting for the response and action from the local police authorities & The Goan Room Top Management. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

At The Goan Room, we strive to provide a safe, respectful and welcoming environment for all our guests, and it is deeply concerning to us whenever a guest feels otherwise. While the behaviour described was completely uncalled for, we would like to clarify that the incident involved the actions of individual guests dining with us and was not in any way related to or supported by the restaurant or our staff. That said, we take matters like these very seriously. We are currently reviewing the situation internally, including CCTV footage and staff accounts, to better understand what happened and where we could have responded more promptly. We would also like to assure you that we will fully cooperate with the local authorities in their investigation and provide any information required from our end. We truly value the trust our guests place in us and regret that your experience that evening did not reflect the standards of hospitality we aim to uphold.
