The Chutney Co is a restuarant specialized in South Indian food. It offers a variety of preparations on the menu at reasonable prices. It is one of the best-recommended restaurants of the area and manages to attract family diners. The highlight of this place is the different types of chutneys they provide with the ordered items - peanut chutney, mango chutney, coconut chutney and many more. Tucked away on the 1st floor of Centre Point at Lal Dighi, B.B.D. Bagh, The Chutney Co. is a lovely find, especially if you’re around Dalhousie during office hours and craving a good dosa. The place immediately stands out for its wide range of dosas, including several Jain-friendly options, which is honestly quite rare in this part of the city. We tried the Benne Dosa and the Cheese Paper Dosa. The benne dosa was easily the star—soft, fluffy, and nicely buttery, exactly how a proper benne dosa should be. The cheese paper dosa was crisp and tasty, familiar but comforting. The real highlight, though, is their chutney spread. You get three complimentary chutneys, with more options available at an extra cost—and it’s worth going beyond the basics. We sampled the peanut chutney, curaikkay (bottle gourd) chutney—which was surprisingly delicious—spicy coconut chutney, sweet onion-tomato chutney, spicy tomato chutney, and Mysore chutney. The spicy tomato chutney clearly stood out, bold, punchy, and the best of the lot. Overall, The Chutney Co. is a solid, no-nonsense spot for South Indian food with an interesting twist thanks to its chutneys. If you’re anywhere near Centre Point, 21 Hemanta Basu Sarani, it’s definitely worth dropping in for a comforting dosa and a few extra bowls of chutney.
