Went for a late lunch and it turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. First, we were made to shift from our chosen table because apparently guests aren’t allowed to sit away from the door until those tables are filled. The real reason? They clearly didn’t want to switch on the AC. It was uncomfortably hot inside, and the management didn’t seem to care. We had to wait a good 10 minutes just to be acknowledged and served basic water. And then, they took ages to serve the food – with zero explanation or apology. To make matters worse, the milkshake we ordered was served warm. Yes, a milkshake – warm! Absolutely unacceptable. The food itself? Nothing remarkable. Certainly not worth the long wait or the poor service. It was mediocre at best and did nothing to make up for the series of inconveniences created by careless staff and stingy management. This place values cutting corners more than customer satisfaction. If I had the option, I’d rate it minus 5 stars. Save your time, money, and patience – go elsewhere. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ₹800–1,000 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

The fall has been mightier than the rise for The Chaiwala at Tollygunge. Visited this place a couple of weeks back on a Sunday evening, but it was sheer disappointment. Multiple items from the menu, and the restaurant people said that the marination for Thai sweet chilli basil chicken wings weren’t done. When asked for the other ones, they said it will take at least 30 minutes when the restaurant was pretty empty manifesting the fact that there was no rush in terms of getting other orders ready. Then we asked if they had Prawn Tempura, and they said they don’t have it.Eventually we just had Chaiwala special tea which was an absolute bummer. The tea had too much milk in it with very little or no flavour of tea. Overall it was a horrible experience, and don’t think I’ll be opting for The Chiwala at Tollygunge unless absolutely necessary.
