Located on the scenic stretch of MC road at Koothattukulam, right next to the Popular Hyundai showroom, this bright little cafe is a sight for sore eyes. The cafe is attractive and easily noticeable from a distance with its brightly painted walls and attractive paintings of rustic snacks on the exterior. Serving a range of rustic dishes like pazhampori, raw banana bajji, vada, tea, coffee, kappa biryani, porotta, beef curry and beef roast, the management has taken care to preserve the old-world charm of the rustic 'tea shop' with it tables which seat not more than 4 at a time, and the famous glass shelves which their prominently displayed fried snacks which customers can drool over. I dropped in here with family during a long-distance journey, just to sample crisp, hot pazhampori (batter-fried ripe plantain) and hot, strong tea. In fact, this was the 3rd place we stopped at after the other two restaurants had run out of pazhampori. It was raining cats and dogs and Tea Cafe was the perfect spot for a rainy day tea and snack. The view on every side was breathtaking, especially since all the foliage had been drenched in the downpour. The tea served was just perfect with the mandatory froth on top. We also ordered a strong tea and that was brought almost immediately along with the medium strength tea with absolutely no delay. The pazhampori was also good, with a crisp outer layer and sweet goodness inside. The addition of black sesame seeds added goal flavour to the coating. We left the place with our stomachs and hearts satisfied. Can't wait to drop in again!
