TM kitchen specialises in Korean and Tibetan food- which is one of a kind in Pune. They have outlets in Mumbai and other metros and is owned by a group of Tibetan youth who are friends.
Their interiors are archetypal Tibetan with photos of the Dalai Lama, the Grand Monk’s books and quotes and Tibetan flags adorn the place with elan, nestled in ambient lighting.
Food, like I said is predominantly Korean and Tibetan so we decided to try out Korean.
Kimbap was first on my cards- for those of you who are wondering; Kimbap is not Sushi- it is the Korean answer to Sushi but is very different- there is nothing raw in it- wrapping of black seaweed technique is the same- rolls are much larger and dipped in sesame crusted soy with a small topping of fermented Kimchi.
Bimbibap or bimbap is a way or peculiar style of eating in a rice bowl mixed with rice, kimchi, fermented soybean crush, gochujang peppers, veggies, chicken and a sunny side up! It’s a feast for the eyes too!
Tteokbokki- this is the Korean answer to the Italian pasta probably- penne pasta sized simmered rice cakes tossed in ganjang sauce and sautéed with shallots / white onions. The tteokbokki is slightly chewy like a candy but nice to feel in your mouth along with this amazing sauce.
Ever tried Boba tea? This is a milk based drink of Polynesian origin now very popular. You can have it here.
So till we meet next time Kahleh Phe everyone!
