I genuinely feel bad writing this review because this restaurant used to be one of our absolute favorites. Around 10 years ago, the food was so delicious that we would visit almost every weekend and for every special occasion. Sadly, things have changed especially the chef. We went there recently, holding on to those nostalgic memories, excited to order all our old favorites. But unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to our expectations. The flavors just weren’t the same, and most of the dishes lacked the taste we once loved. That said, my vegetarian meal was decent not great, but good. It definitely had room for improvement. The non-vegetarian dishes were even more disappointing. Most of the items were filled with bones, and the overall flavor was bland and unappetizing. The prawns, in particular, were poorly cooked and lacked freshness, which was quite disappointing given how good they used to be Even the sweets didn’t leave a good impression they weren’t fresh and were overly sweet, lacking balance and quality But one thing that stood out and reminded us of the old times was the filter coffee—it was fresh, strong, and absolutely satisfying. Yesterday, I visited Swathi Gardenia near Kodigehalli Gate for lunch, and my experience was a mix of positives and areas for improvement. Starting with the ambiance, the restaurant provides a welcoming and pleasant environment. The staff were polite, attentive, and quick to respond to our needs, which made the dining experience enjoyable. Their friendly attitude is definitely a highlight, as it adds a personal touch to the service. We ordered their Biriyani, among other dishes, which arrived promptly. While the presentation and portion size were good, the taste of the Biriyani was slightly disappointing. The gravy that accompanied the dish had too much salt, which unfortunately overpowered the flavors and affected the overall experience. It’s unfortunate because the dish had the potential to be excellent with better seasoning. On a more positive note, the other dishes we tried were well-prepared and flavorful, which somewhat made up for the salty Biriyani gravy. Additionally, the restaurant maintains good hygiene standards, and the pricing is reasonable for the quality and quantity offered. Overall, Swathi Gardenia has its strengths in terms of service, ambiance, and general food quality. However, the inconsistency in seasoning for key dishes like Biriyani can leave a dent in the dining experience. If they could address such issues, this place has the potential to be a standout option for casual dining in the Kodigehalli area. I would rate my overall experience a 3 out of 5. With slight improvements in their food preparation, I believe Swathi Gardenia can elevate its reputation among diners.
