Sundhar Chettinadu Restaurant, situated on Redhills Road in Chennai, offers a diverse culinary experience with dishes ranging from spicy Andhra-style Chettinadu cuisine to Chinese, Thai, South American, and Seafood flavors. However, despite its varied menu, visitors have previously noted that only a handful of items truly stand out, such as the paratha, chicken masala, and certain chicken gravies.
The restaurant seems to have been more favorably received in its earlier years but has since settled into more moderate reviews from patrons. Diners have found the rasam and various chutneys particularly noteworthy, while signature dishes like prawn masala also receive occasional praise. However, feedback on serving portions and other offerings suggests room for improvement.
There is little publicly available information about the current operating hours, and the price level at Sundhar Chettinadu Restaurant is described as very expensive. It is worth noting that the most recent reviews were left seven years ago, and there appears to be limited updates from the management or new insights into their dining experience since then. Guests choosing this location may want to manage expectations given the absence of fresh feedback.
This place used to be good in its early years but now has become an average restaurant. There are only a few items on the menu that taste very good. Paratha and chicken masala and most of the chicken gravies are good.
Average restaurant in kolathur locality.. Parotha and prawn masala was excellent and kaadai biryani was ok but quantity is less..
Fish fry and chicken 65 was ok.. Parking-3.5/5
Food - 3.5/5
Stopped here for dinner when coming back from the outskirts of the city. This was our only option along the way, and we were pretty much the last people to enter. What we ordered were some ghee dosas, paneer masala, parathas and a chilli paratha.
The chilli paratha exceeded all my expectations and stood out from the rest of the dishes. The others, were quite mediocre and I'm not going to comment on them.
Coming back to the winner dish, it was served in a bowl and garnished with green chillies. Served on the side was a small helping of Raita. And boy! We needed it! The paratha was spicy and the yoghurt on the side complemented it well.
Value of money for the food was reasonable. In short, a good stop along the way.
